The Autonomous Vehicle Lab’s fleet is composed of two three-row electric carts each equipped with LiDAR(s) and multiple Allied Vision Mako G-319 cameras. Through the carts’ drive by wire systems, the AVL’s computers are able to drive the carts autonomously. These carts are limited to 25 mph.
A new project within the Autonomous Vehicle Lab is the creation of an autonomous scooter which will be able to drive itself across campus and other similar urban environments via bike lanes and pedestrian walkways. The electronics and physical control of the scooter has been completed and the team is currently working on developing in initial autonomy stack for the platform.
